The researchers studied premature deaths due to higher temperatures in cities. The temperature difference between city and environment averages 1.5 degrees and can reach up to 4 degrees Celsius, according to the study. The team bent over data from 93 European cities, with a total population of 57 million, collected between June and August 2015. A total of some 6,700 premature deaths could be attributed to high city temperatures during the summer months; four per cent of ‘summer deaths’ are thus attributed to the heat island effect.

GAES goes one step further. In the GAES dashboard, we provide insight into the drop in degrees after greenery is installed. So that with the right types of trees and landscaping, we can achieve and also demonstrate maximum heat stress reduction and shading.
