About Us
In 2020, Wil Jacobs came to an important conclusion: everyone deserves more green in their lives. As a living green encyclopedia, he knows exactly which tree belongs in which place. But words alone are not enough—proof matters. That’s why Green As A Service was created: an initiative that not only measures what green can mean, but also ensures that everyone benefits from it.
The Value of Green
Whenever she can, Sanne is here. While her little daughter plays on the square, Sanne enjoys a book under the trees, the sound of birds, and butterflies fluttering around the colorful flowers. She meets neighbors or catches up with friends. This square is truly her favorite spot in the neighborhood.
How different it was when she first moved here. Grey, barren, hot… that’s what she remembers. The few trees were withered and dead. The only green came from weeds growing between the paving stones, and graffiti covered a worn-out bench. The memory is complete with roaring scooters racing by. Thankfully, those days are over. Since the square was redesigned, she enjoys the peace, greenery, and relaxation every single day.
The well-being and happiness of Sanne—and many others—that’s exactly what GAES is committed to. We provide carefully considered and well-founded advice on how to design outdoor spaces. Because it’s not about just planting a few trees or creating a playground. It’s about designing and monitoring sustainable green environments that improve residents’ well-being, increase biodiversity, and create public spaces that are truly functional.
Building a greener world together starts with a good conversation.
Green for the Long Term
What works for Sanne’s square might be a missed opportunity in another neighborhood. Every place is unique and deserves a tailored approach. That’s why GAES doesn’t simply deliver greenery—we deliver ecosystem services. Using advanced tools like our Digital Twin, we can already predict the impact of greenery during the design phase of an outdoor space. This means we don’t just think about which tree fits best today, but also whether that tree will still add value in ten, thirty, or even fifty years.
A Responsible Choice
At GAES, a square, park, or green area is always a dynamic ecosystem. Through data analysis, smart technology, and sensors that measure air quality, soil moisture at different depths, soil condition, and temperature, we create green zones that achieve a wide range of goals: reducing heat stress, improving air quality, preventing flooding, enhancing residents’ well-being, and strengthening social cohesion.
This approach is exactly why Sanne—and her neighbors—can enjoy a safe, pleasant space where her daughter can play freely every day. And with our clear GAES dashboard, the impact of greenery on these goals can be monitored in real-time. Thanks to continuous measurement and adjustments, green is no longer an expense but a conscious and valuable investment—a responsible choice with true societal impact.
The Future of Green Starts Now
When Sanne and her daughter enjoy “their” square, they are living proof of what well-designed urban greenery can mean. It’s more than just a place to play or read—it’s an investment in biodiversity, well-being, climate resilience, and the future. GAES ensures that this investment is lasting, with greenery that delivers measurable results. Green that proves its value not only today, but for decades to come. For Sanne, and for so many others…
