This congress will be held on 14 and 15 June at the former storage shed De Fruitvis in the Port of Rotterdam.

“The Netherlands circular by 2050 and by 2030 already 50 per cent less consumption of raw materials.” That is the intended goal, including for public spaces. But are we on track? And where are the challenges and opportunities? The way we design, furnish and manage public outdoor space plays an important role in achieving those goals. By focusing on the true value of greenery and using insights from all data in optimising the design of public space, GAES makes an important contribution.

During the second edition of the Circular Public Space Congress, professionals from across the country will come together to debate, exchange practical examples and inspire each other. The festival-like structure guarantees a fun and educational day that you can tailor to your needs. With various speakers, practical sessions, inspiration sessions and workshops.

Will you also visit the GAES stand at the Circular Public Space Congress? And don’t miss the inspiration session ‘the values and benefits of a circular tree’ by Wil Jacobs, manager of GAES, together with the Municipality of The Hague!

Practical session: The values and benefits of a circular tree

The values and benefits of greenery and trees in providing ecosystem services are becoming increasingly important in public spaces. As trees age, this value increases exceptionally. With satellite data, GEO Data and real-time data, Green As A Service (GAES) makes this data transparent. With the GAES Digital Twin Tool, we calculate the true value of ecosystems that trees provide. The “Circular Tree” is a method GAES has developed to give urban trees a longer life and maximise the values and benefits of trees and make them transparent to policymakers, managers and other stakeholders. Curious how we do this? Wil Jacobs will tell more about it together with a municipality.
